The Landesbergen biomass power plant generates power by burning scrap wood and alternative fuels. The electrical power output is 22 MW.
The biomass power plant generates an electricity equivalent to the consumption of approximately 50,000 households.
Generating power by burning scrap wood is CO2 neutral. The CO2 stored in the wood during photosynthesis is released by the combustion.
In addition to biomass, Statkraft also uses a small amount of high-calorific, non-recyclable waste from households, industry and commerce. Where possible, Statkraft favours fuels that are lower in pollutants and CO₂ and have the highest possible biogenic content.
The resulting emissions are cleaned and subjected to the strictest controls.
